We got into atving back in late 2001. I was just looking for something for me and my son to do. So, I bought me a Scrambler, and him a trail boss and surprised him with it for Christmas, which turned out great and he loved it. We went riding in Michigan one time, and my dad mentioned he wanted to go the next we went. So, we took him. He got on the trail boss, and took off..within a few minutes he was back, and said he'd have to have one of these. Within 6 months, we had 5 machines, 2 trailers and a motorhome, cause in the meantime, we'd gone riding down in Tennessee and stayed in one that we rented. Myself, two kids and my parents, all having a blast.
Riding in Tennessee ruined us from Michigan. We rode up in Mio one more time, and that was it. The riding at Windrock in Tennessee, was too much fun. We developed friendships there, and used to stay for weeks at a time. Windrock was much more primitive back then, and there were actually Saturdays where we'd have the place to ourselves. We put over 6000 miles on our machines there, and I personally made 30 trips down there to ride. It wasn't too long before we'd ridden everything on Windrocks 72000 acres, and we started exploring the hundreds upon hundreds of thousands acres all around it. When we finally stopped going there, we were over 50 miles from the parking lot riding new trails. It was awesome..all the exploring and trying to remember how to get back and all. I loved it. I got stuck being the leader all the time, but it kept me out of the dust, and I had a knack for it. In 2003, I rode more than anyone else on Windrock.
I guess a lot has changed there. Which is too bad...but we got in, got ours, and got out with a ton of great memories. Some of the best times of our lives.
