2011 Sportsman 500 HO fun in the snow

Just thought I would share a quick vid I made of me running around in my back yard.
I know a lot of you guys have way more land then this to play in. But this is my little piece of heaven here in Norther NJ. Google North Haledon, NJ and see how much woodland you can find ;-) I have about 15 acres of woods on the side of a small mountain. Its hard to tell, but there is a good amount of elevation.
The 500 is bone stock besides brush guards and a rear rack. Just ordered some zilla's to help out in snow. There is about a +/- 1' of snow depending on the spot. I have a lot more trails winding through, I just took a quick vid to show some of my friends.
Sorry no sound

We should all take a moment and remember the poor sapling that was sacrificed to make this video.

Nice vid. Looks like fun. What kind of camera did you use?

Yeah going down the hill I got a little squirely and it was either the little guy or the big one next to it. I think I would have lost the battle against his big brother!

I bought some Maxxis Zilla's, and they should be in today. I am curious to see how much better then will grip in the snow then the stockers which you can tell slide all over the place! I am assuming it will be a vast improvement.

Its a contour HD, the older 720p version. Great camera, very wide lens. I use it mostly on my street bike, and it has no problems keeping up. It kinda skews depth perception a bit though. there is a lot more elevation in the vid then it appears. But from my experience that happens with any camera.

Cool. I just got my GoPro HD Hero today. It is supposed to be like 5 degrees this weekend, so I don't know if I want to brave the cold yet. Can't wait to get it out and shoot some vids.

having fun is what it's all about. nice little trail system you got going, making the best out of a small area! the zilla's will be like night and day, at least they were for me, and i only got them for the rear, still have 9 year old stocks on front. as long as it's light fluffy snow i can go anywhere until i get high centered (in 2wd).

I have a few friends with Gopro's, they are great camera's as well. Good luck with it!

I hear ya about the cold, its going to be a little warmer then you here in NJ, but I am lucky enough to be able to ride in my back yard. So I can just got for a quick romp and run home to warm up. Although its not a huge plot of land, its pretty damn good for NE NJ.

Enjoy your camera, you catch some interesting, funny and unfortunately embarrassing things sometimes.

This vid was a lot of fun to record, till about 12:15. Now thats embarrassing! BTW I walked away with nothing but a sprained wrist. Was doing about 75mph when I went down.

Thanks Cookies, yeah I have trails winding all through there. Thats probably less then half of them in the vid.
I put the zilla's on today and they seem great. No more sliding around, just lots of grip. Cant wait to try them tomorrow after the 3-6 we are getting tonight.

nice nice i love my zillas! and we're expecting 5-9 up here in midcoast maine.

i cant wait to play around in the snow tomorrow although i do need to be able to drag the woodsplitter down here to cut up some more firewood...

I just moved back to maine and live a little over 1/4 mile from the nearest road. My polaris is the only lifeline i have to the outside road lol...

We have about 170 acres of farmland out here and there's no road from my cabin to the outside world. Makes life a bit more interesting considering I've been used to living in cities since I got out of highschool about 10 years ago...

Nice 170 acres, reminds me of growing up. My family had 100+ growing up in Northwest Jersey. Not quite as out of the way as you though. Not sure if I could go back now.
I consider myself lucky that I live 25 minutes from nyc, but still have some of the last woodland in this area, even as small as it is.
I am very jealous of you guys that have all this land and trails you can explore. I am looking forward to heading out to PA this year to do some riding.
