Maiden Voyage

Well today was the day I've been looking forward to for a long time! My '01 Sportsman 500 maiden voyage! Boy howdy let me tell you how much fun my wife and I had. Immediately after we got on the trail I knew right away where to go to get some mud, and there was a lot of it there!

So much mud that I ended up. . . . getting . . . stuck, gave up and waited for my wife to stop taking pictures and laughing at me to get the tow strap out for a quick retrieval.

We then continued to do a few jumps.

Next we headed into the woods where we played going up and down all the hills I thought we both could handle. Even took on some hills I wasn't even sure "I" could handle, but I did!! About 2 hours in we took a break and I snapped some pictures of what now will be call "The Mud Machine"

(Notice how my wife's ride isn't very dirty)

All in all it was a great day at Perry Lake. Beautiful weather, beautiful mud, beautiful day! Of course when I got home I laughed as now I get to clean them. Probably not going to do a detail on them this time though! LOL

It was fun! Now if I can fix the small issue I had with the quad I think all will be smooth the rest of the year!

You spent all that time getting it cleaned and polished and the first thing you do is take it out in the mud ???.

GOOD TIMES!! Great pictures! I'm VERY jealous!!!
Still too much snow in the woods to get out around here... Then its going to be VERY wet for at least a couple weeks after that and THEN I can get out...

I have one place to ride that's mostly on a side hill. That one will not be as wet once the snow is gone. Its also NE facing so its got less snow so just maybe I'll get to go out there but the end of the month...

Great you have a at home riding companion too!! My wife is interested and I got her a machine, I just need to make time for her... She is a baker and works long hours "making the donuts"... If you know what I mean. Most of her riding is limited to vacation.

Yeah, I'm a lucky husband. I could always go riding by myself or with some other people, but it's so much more enjoyable to go out with her and spend that time together. We both live pretty hectic lives so when we can get out together and relax, we take ever opportunity!

Ghost Rider: That's the fun of getting things all cleaned up, just to get them dirty and do it all over again. It's like finding out how something works, you get a brand new "something" tear it apart, and try to put it back together without any extra pieces laying around. I know, I'm weird! Still trying to figure out where this spring goes from my last project. LOL!!

Glad both of you enjoyed the ride!! I really can't tell who had more fun , you or the mrs. Next time why not give her a chance in the mud also. We all need to remember that this a sport that can be enjoyed by all ages. Safe riding to ya!!
