Hey guys, just got back from one AWESOME vacation with my wife! We spent one good LONG day riding in Cooper Creek ORV (Deepwater, Mo.) and had one hella of of a time! No major issues thankfully but we did have some small issues. First off, with all the rain down there the lake was so high it washed out a lot of the trails. Lots of dead ends so that was a bumber. Not a lot of mud pits, it was actually pretty dry for most of it.
My wife did however find a pretty good mud pit she decided to take her little 300 Sportsman through. She got about half way through and I thought she was done. But I'll tell you what guys, that little sportsman made it through with a few backups and forwards! Everytime we go out, she gets a little better at riding. I'm so proud of her!!!

Of course I had little issues:
Well the only area we got "stuck" in was in an area I thought I was going to be able to go around this water hole. Now I'm an "assumist" I assume the middle of a body of water will be the deepest, not the edges. LOL well lets just say that wasn't the case here. Here's where I entered in at:

And here's how deep it was:

Now I thought that my quad could just go through it and up the other side, well it made it through, but it had no grip on the steep embankment. She started to slide down to the water and once the left side tires hit the water she damn near tumbled over. Fortunately she didn't go fully sideways but the quad WAS submerged, I'd say just below the air box as there was no water in it (thank the good Lord). But everything else was fully underwater. Obviously she didn't start so I was getting worried as to how I was going to get her out. My wife was still on dry land behind me and had no angle to pull me out. So, just for the fun of it and since I was already chest deep in it, I waded around for a higher point, and wouldn't you know I found it, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE! LOL She drove right through it with -0- problems! She got infront of me, got the tow rope and pulled me right out. I let her sit for a few minutes and let all the water drain from just about everywhere and she started right up!! That's a Polaris for you, it can take a beating and keep on running! Here's a last picture of the "lake" I went swimming in!
All in all though, we had a great time out there. Spent about 5.5 hours of pure riding. Hell I even was able to fix my shifting issue I had. The damn thing got locked up in low and wouldn't shift out at all, no high, and NO reverse (big machines NEED reverse). Well I always take tools out with me, got stuck in a shady area and just went to town on the shifter rods. Basically I just unscrewed the pivot things and whaa-la! She shifts better than ever!
Ok, back to my originaly question about synthetic ropes. I went out this time with no winch. It's still sitting downstairs in a birds nest. It's frayed and needs replaced. I want to go synthetic but I wanted to hear where everyone got there's at, and if anyone knew of any good deals going on right now on them. Obviously I need 50' of 3/16" and probably need a new fairland as I only have a roller and not a hawse (assuming I need to switch it). I've priced them at about $90 with the fairland, even on ebay it wasn't much cheaper. Any suggestions on what kind, where, and who to buy from? Thanks guys! Sorry for getting off topic there in the beginning but you know how excited you get after a big trip! I definately have to get me a go-pro now!
