Here from Hopewel Jct., New York

Been here since November but haven't had the time to post over here... but I have been posting. Deer hunting has been taking all my time and now that is over. In November I bought a 2012 500HO Limited Edition(Pursuit camo, EBS & a little beefier tries). You guys helped me out quite a bit by answering my questions before I bought.. THANK YOU. I just got done reading the poll on extended warranties... which I have decided against getting. I believe the 500HO is a proven machine and I use my ATV mainly for hunting. Plus I usually try to do all my own work unless special tools are needed like unique pullers and presses etc. I'm retired so I don't drive hard and would never go mudding for fun even though I may find myself too close to a swamp every now and then.
My last atv was a 1997 Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4. I was the second owner... bought it when it was 6 months old and had it for 14yrs... never had one major problem. Only nuisance problems were ethanol issue when they first started adding that to gas... and mice building nests in my air box. I'm hoping the Polaris just comes close in reliability and I'll be happy.
As some of you know NY is not a friendly state for ATV riders. There is only on private atv park in the state that I know of and you cannot ride on any state land. But they do require you to register it. So they get my money with nothing in return. I'm hoping that changes in the future...

Thanks again for your help.
Joe

hope all is well. that reggy thing is funny. when they started collecting the state said it would be used for creating a trail system on state land. well they have collected something like 12 million and no trail system.

I doubt my season was better... worse season I have seen in a loooonnng time. Most guys I've talked to, wether they hunted mountains or low lands, saw very few deer this year. Some nice bucks were shot but even those guys saw very few deer.

Yea, NY blows. I either go into Pennsylvania for The Lost Trails or Rausch creek, or into New Hampshire. Good Luck!

Just keep in mind- The lost trails are really, really rocky and intense. I have ridden with friends on racing quads, and on dirt bikes, and they were not happy at all, because their machines could not handle it. If you are on a sportsman, you have nothing to worry about.
Good luck
