New Member 2012 Sportsman 400

Hi, I am new to the Forum. I just picked up my first ATV: a 2012 Polaris Sportsman 400HO. I live in Ontario and will be installing a winch and plow on it.

Congrats! I just got a 500 HO. I ordered a superwinch 3500 SR off of amazon and the correct mounting plate off of promark offroad .com. Be careful where you get the mounting plates; the 2011+ are different than previous year models!

Thanks everyone. So far I have just installed a 2500 lb Expert Winch and I put the solenoid into the dry storage box on the front to keep it dry and safe. I added a battery tender plug to it as well.

I also rustproofed it, and put dielectric grease on the connections. I find it funny how they recommend this in the manual but won't do it when they put the atv together.

I got a plow from my wife's uncle for $200. It's a canadian tire one but the handle was not wide enough for this atv. So the winch does that job now. It's a pain to get a mounting plate from a Honda onto a Polaris, haha.
