99 scrambler 500 ignition problem
When I start my 500 scrambler 4x4 it runs rough until it warms up. It runs pretty good until it really warms up. It then is hard to keep running and stalls out eventually. If I try to crank it over after it stalls it will start up if I don't touch the throttle, but runs really rough and stalls out. If I hold the throttle wide open while trying to turn it over it does nothing but backfire thru the muffler. If I let is cool down for about a 1/2 hour it will start back up and run pretty good until it gets up to operating temp again then the same thing happens. This problem has gotten continually worse over time. It now takes less time for this to happen. I felt it was something in the ignition and looked at replacement ignition parts on line and found 4 things in the magneto section that I feel could cause this problem. The only problem they total almost $1000. Where do I start?
