02 Sportsman 700

Hello All

Answered and add on Craigslist for a 96 Yamaha today and ended up bringing the Yamaha and an 02 Sportsman 700.

The 700 is in good shape, has around 2000 miles on it. Turnes over but has no spark. The dash shows a wrench that blinks on and off, no sure what that means.

I do not have a manual yet - who makes the best?

Look forward to hearing from ya.

Vern

Well I'm relatively new to atv's myself but I do know that the ducati ignition systems used on the sportsman's at that time were prone to failure. Polaris has an ignition upgrade but its costly. Having a a dealer install it will run you a little under $700. The kit is pretty extensive and replaces everything on the ATV related to the ignition system. I've heard that the replacement ducati CDI modules are about half that price, but it will eventually burn out again. Now as to how you would actually troubleshoot it down to it possibly being a bad CDI module... someone else would have to chime in for that.
