No 4X4 Reverse
Hey Guys,
Have a Polaris 500 X2 that does on engage the front wheels in reverse when the override switch is engaged. Any ideas?....

Can you give some more specifics? Does it do it all the time or just intermittently? Are you using the winch alot?
One thing you should check is your battery. Polaris machines are designed so that when your machine's battery is low it will turn off the 4x4 on it. This happens to me when I push snow all day long. Running the winch up and down starts to take it's toll on the battery and then my 4x4 will disengage.
I am not sure if this helps, but it gives you one more thing to try.

I first noticed that the front drive wasn't when I plowed for the first time this year. I do have a winch, but actually found out it wasn't working on my first pass with the plow.(no problem lifting or lowering the plow) I thought of something after I posted my original thread. My son had the wheeler out on Xmas and buried it up to the floorboards in the field. I had to drive my pickup out close to hook the wheeler winch to and pull itself out. Could he have over revved the unit in reverse and smoked something? Thanks for the welcome and response. Andy

Im assuming AWD works while forward. I know your pressing the button, but are you sure the button is working?

Just to update you guys...I bought a service manual and was able to trace through the wiring back to the pod and I couldn't go any farther. It would not enter the diagnostics mode so I had to take it in. My dealer found two wires broken back in the wire harness. I had already fixed a break for my high beam in the harness about a month ago.(Wire Insulation very brittle) Has anyone else had any similar problems? The dealer said it was probably from corrosion.......Right......It is stored inside, never been submerged and barely ridden....Wondering if Polaris had a bad supply of wire on these models....Thanks for everyone's input....Andy
