Hi folks, new guy checking in. Im a blue collar guy who wishes he could afford to buy a new machine but had to settle for buying an oooooold one instead.
I picked up a '96 Sportsman 500 a couple days ago that needs some TLC. It has no brakes and this afternoon I found that the bleeder is busted off one of the front calipers. I havent had time to check the rear yet. I am going to try to get the bleeder out with an easy out.
One other problem I found is that the electric start doesnt work, the solenoid just clicks. Might be a grounding issue as it worked fine when I first looked at the machine and the mounting area has a lot of grime and some rust. I jumped the starter cable and it rolls over just fine. The battery is new and has a full charge.
Full fluid change will be in the near future as I attempt to see if this will be an acceptable replacement for my golf cart.
Anyways, I look forward to learning while Im here, as I am sure I will have questions.
