Maybe y'all know whats the diagnosis
Been having some issues with my my 1999 polaris sport 400 2 stroke. It started with the spark plug. First I needed a new one. Accidentally was given the wrong one, so I was able to ride for about a day and then it started to give me backfire. So once I had the correct spark plug I was able to ride for a couple to a few hrs for 2 days. On that 2nd day I was doing a little dragging with it and the atv kinda popped a lil bit but not real loud, and it immediately lost power. I cut it off looked it over and then tried to crank it back up. It never cranked back up. The temp. light came on after I cut the atv to the off position and then back on. It eventually went off, and like I mentioned before I tried to start it back up with no luck. If I push the throttle while engaging the push start I get a kinda nasty backfire sound. My neighbor with some car mechanic knowledge is thinking there may have been an underlying problem with a rod or rods that finally showed its ugly face.
