Just bought a used 2006 sportsman 800 camo today. already having problems.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! Problem is Icannot move the gear handle selector from D to LOW OR N . it wont move when engine is running. you have to shut it off. then i can chane to any gear .
The dealer said its the belt. so he gave me a new belt . i took it home stripped the bike down. and still have the same problem. It squeals also. The old belt looked fine to me. it looked just like the old one, it was not stretched at all. HELP ! I think i got screwed. Taking it back to dealer.

shifting trouble
RR: will your machine shift if you rock it while moving the shifter.i had another make that had that problem but i could move the shifter if i rocked forward & backwards:It turned out that something was out of adjustment. i had my brother "who's alot more handy with wrenches" fix it. so im not really sure what he had to adjust. but when i talk to him i'll ask!!

No i cant move the gear lever when rocking the machine,
