Electrical Problem 425

Unfortunately we recently bought a new battery with reversed poles. It was hooked up backwards(yes,we have blondes in the family). My son tried to start it and it would not crank. We found the problem and corrected it.The machine cranks and runs fine but wont engage 4wd.There was some smoke from the 4wd switch area when my son tried to crank it.Any suggestions ??

The polaris is actually a 2001 model. The light is supposed to come on at the switch on the right side of the handlebar. It does not.

You may need a new switch.I think you might have fried it.Check all the fuses too.

Check your speedometer to see if everything functions properly as this is the brain box for the 4 wheel drive. When you reverse the cables 9 times out of 10 you will fry part of the speedometer assembly.
