possibly a bad solenoid or even dirty connections mud and junk likes to sit in there and rust them a bit hope it throws you in the right direction ....i guess you could put a booster cable on the starter wire side of the solenoid to bypass it and if it start you know you likely need a solenoid

I put a booster cable on the solenoid but still clicking so i now have to take the starter off. I also took the cover off the pull rope cover and it is all broke the plastic peice that the rope sits in is boke and so is the metal peice that pulls out and starts the motor.

I am not sure on your quad but on my 94 sportsman 400 I had to pull the pull start off to remove 2 bolts from the starter so when you are in there you might pull the starter and check it too

if you tried to jump it and it still clicked your starter is toast....well most likely brushes! mine did the same just a month ago! on your magnum the starter bolts are on the backside of the starter take off your seat and take out your air box. the bottom bolt sometimes binds up with the back of the clutch cover but you dont have to remove (clutch cover) it to change your starter. also pay attention to the condition of the o rings on the starter if any of them are bad replace them if not you could be in the same boat after the first time you go through deep water, which is exactly why i had mine rebuilt a month ago..LOL!
