FNG with EFI diagnostic questions
Hey guys,
I'm a FNG from Arizona, new to the forum and new to quads. I just bought a used 2007 Sportsman 500 EFI, primarily for hunting. (My knees got old) It has 650 miles and 64 hours. I downloaded an owner’s manual and I'm trying to get dangerous.
I can't seem to display the diagnostic codes. The manual says to put in park, turn off, then turn the key switch to on, followed by turning the key switch to “off” and then to “on”, three times in 5 seconds. Then the word "WAIt" should appear on the screen. But "WAIt" never appears on my screen. So what am I doing wrong?
A couple of more questions: The diagnostic resistance is 158 ohms. Is that within range? Also, there is rubber plug next to the key switch that says "EFI diagnostics". I popped the plug expecting to find a jack or something, but nothing. Is the hole for some accessory?

is the light on? if the light isnt on anymore it wont kick in to the diagnostics

If you are asking about the display backlight, yeah it's on. Should I switching to off and on when the wrench is flashing?

is that diagnostic code you are talking about the flashing wrench icon?
..and the rubber cap that says EFI on it is nothing more then a cap. on the carb machines that is where the chock goes. they just used the same pod assembly for EFI or carb. there is no plug or accessory that goes there
