Synthetic winch cable?

This may not be a performance modification, but I really didn't see a better place to ask my question.

So my winch cable has had it and I decided to replace it with a synthetic one. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was looking at the Polaris cable, but I've seen a few others online. What is the experience floating around out there?

Thanks!!

My winch came with the synthetic rope, no problems yet. I bought my winch from RVS Performance, here's a link to the website.

Rvs is a great dealer, great products and a member here...^

Also, I would replace the fairlead with a new one or switch to a hawse, either way the thing should be new/flawless because anything worn/ruff from your steel cable will shorten rope life dramatically.

I just installed my first one, a new Moose synthetic winch rope, on Sunday before the snow. Hopefully we get some more to really test it out.

Much up/down...gunna break. Too much wear and tear/heat build up on 1 short 8" section of it. Not a flaw of rope.because cable wears just the same, benefit is rope is a quick pocket knife, new knot repair and your on your way. But for plowing duties, I listened to these guys 2 yrs ago and used a section of 2" strap just for plowing and never had a breaking issue. CabLe with former quad, it'd get repaired an average of 8 times a winter. The rope when I first tried it on my new quad/plow set up made it thru half the day before it broke.

So just keep the strap idea in the back of your mind if/when it begins breaking from alot of up/down plow cycling.

I've been reading about the strap idea. I like it. I really think I'm going to do that. I've put on the 50 foot rope so I don't have to take it off, put it on every time I want to take off the plow and play. So I think the strap will be the ticket!!

I have had problems when it gets packed with snow and ice reversing inside the winch. Then you basically have to cut it and start over. It helps when you wind it up to keep as much tension as you can and slowly move the cable side to side as it winds so nothing binds up. Otherwise I have loved it. It's nice and light and super easy to work with.
