How do I make my 550 XP very quiet
I need to make my Sportsman 550 XP as quiet as possible. Are there any known modifications I can make to the exhaust or add to the muffler to silence the motor noise?

A stock xp 550 isn`t all that loud, why do you need to make it quieter ?. Do a google search for quiet atv muffler and you will find a lot of information that should help you.

Thanks will try the Google idea. I need my 550 to be quiet because I need to ride it around horses and would like to approach wildlife without them hearing me.

i have an 850 an have been looking at this issue very hard. with the 550 you have many options. kolpin, stealth, (maybe same)benz, and hushpower. i have looked at them all which they do not offer anyhting for the 850. Look at hushpower. it is made by flowmaster and they have a video of a rzr and all you hear is the tires. I do think that any of these options will work for you.

Nope, I am a photographer that covers a very large trail ride. Horses do not like loud ATVs...

We have two horses and there used to the ATV`s, it doesn`t bother them at all, but some horses would probably freak out at the sound of an ATV.
