600 twin custom rad and winch relocation

finished!

i always hated the rad kits thart relocate the rad to be completely upright, blocking the third light (just seems kinda dumb to me) so i built my own from scratch. i cut the rack and some of the boy to drop the rad down as far as i can - as is it is sitting at more than a 45 angle, maybe 50-55. solid as can be,

the expanded steel mesh needs to be doubled u-p - the gaps are too big, but otherwise i love it. the tube for the cage is galvanized electrical conduit - a BITCH to weld!

i dropped the winch first, thinking i could get the rad lower. i couldn't. i wish i never moved the winch.... issed:

ah well....here are the pics...

works like a charm...

Looks good...looks a lot better than some of the kits.

What is the benefit though? I'm relatively new, so don't take it the wrong way. A lot of mud riding causing it to get covered?

You got it!

Moving the rad up and outta the way of the mud keeps you from caking it with mud and overheating.

Moving the winch down helps allot in pulling form a stuck. Too high a mount and it actually pushed the nose down and into the mud/log. With the lower mount, it pulls it over better... Its simple leverage.

thanks for the comments - it was WAY more work than i anticipated...

and yup - the rad fan is under the rad... wires are a bit stuffed, so every now and then i get a whirring sound of a wire grazing the fan, but otherwise its awesome...

No problems! Works like a charm. No leaks, nothing.... Awesome mod and I've gotten a lot of compliments on the trail about it. Most people think it was a factory option!
