Question Anyone used Header Wrap

I was wondering if anyone has used header wrap tape on there exhaust?? If so did it help with the heat on your right leg?? Also was there any performance issues?? Why I'm asking the first time i took my 800 on wood trails it blistered my right leg.

Welcome to the forum!! I remember reading a thread on this awhile ago. Seemed like the general out come was to wear jeans instead of shorts! Do a search for the thread. I only wore shorts 1 time!! I know what you mean about the heat on the right side! Sorry i couldn't help more!!!!

I used header wrap on my 800 X2 and still had to wear jeans. Shortly before I sold it I made a heat shield from an old license plate and mounted it with two of the plastic pop rivets so I could remove it easily. Seemed to work real well and didn't melt any more holes in my snow pants.

i have an 08 800 and i wrapped from the heads all the way back to the first muffler.i took the exhaust right off and wrapped and then sprayed with hi heat silicon exhaust wrap spray.plus i made a little heat shield and it makes a ton of difference.but i dont ride in shorts.it is still warm on a hot day but no where near as hot.i read about guys worried about exhaust rusting faster but i just run my quad till the wrap is dryed out then on the trailer and home we go.oh ya i cleaned the exhaust with a wire brush then painted it with hi temp paint before i wrapped it
