Sons Modded Scrambler 50 is having problems
We have an 02 50cc. with an AAEN speed kit on it. basically a pipe, oil block off, and a cone filter, I'm sure there is a jet kit of some sort in it. I had to change the clutch back to stock. It was way to much for him.
The problems we are having is starting. When I get it started it runs for a little bit then cuts off. It has sat for quite some time.
I pulled the carb and took it appart. I found a bunch of green flake in the bowl. I took it all appart. and blew air in all the holes. I counted the turns on one of the srews. there is another small screw by the opening of the carb that the filter ataches to. I didn't pay attention to that one when I pulled it out. I'm not sure if it was tight or set at a certain depth.
I got it started and it ran for a little bit then started to stall out. I reached down and covered part of the carb and it started to run better.
Is there anyone out there that works on these little carbs that could give me some pointers?
Thanks. It is a Muniki carb...

a little update. It seems that if I choke it with the palm of my hand I can start it easier and keep it running.
The screw on the side that I counted the turns on was only the idle screw.... I am not sure what the other screw was at the mouth of the carb. It was long and had a spring on it. I wish I could find a diagram of this carb that tells you how it works and what the normal settings are.

I pulled it back off today. I was able to get it to stop leaking. I pulled the reeds as well to look at them. They look fine. However I don't know what they should look like anyway.
I still get it to run. I am about 1 1/2 turns out. It just starts to bog out when you give it gas. As soon as I put my hand over the Carb it starts acting correctly. I can actually drive it around like that. Could this have something to do with my elect. choke???
