Snow plow options

Does anyone have a suggestion on a snow plow? Make? Model, Brand? i know it's a little early, has anyone ever tried to plow gravel/dirt? if so how did it hold up?

I just got my X2 a couple weeks ago, I haven't got my plow yet, but I've done quite a bit of research and will probably get the Moose Utilities 60" "County" Plow. The Polaris Glacier plows seem pretty good too.

You might want to consider Warn Pro Vantage editions

Never too early! Last winter all the plows where out of stock because of all the snow storms. Remember the early bird gets the morning worm. We have tested both Warn & American. They are the strongest on the market. Any questions feel free to call the shop and ask for me.

My father has a 2005 sportsman 500ho with the glacier 1 plow system and he uses his to fill in graves at the cemetary he works for on a regular basis, and he plows alot of snow with it in the winter months his only complaint is that he wishes the plow had a little more wieght to it so it wouldn't ride up so often. He says the main thing is to remember you are using an atv with a blade not a D8 dozer so only push a small amount at a time. I have used my 2010 sportsman 500ho with the glacier 2 system for snow all last winter here in northwest NY and it worked great. I did use it a few weeks ago to spread a couple loads of sand for my neighbors pool and it pushed quite easy. They are great work horses.

I have the glaciel II plow on 2010 550 touring and it sucks. The plow frame rubs and blade is to light. There is a glaciel III out now I hope it is better.

Don't make the same mistake twice! Get a Warn or eagle.

I have a G3. Don't get it. It works great for me, but the quality is not impressive. You might as well go with another brand for the price. I will next time now that I know. It just feels like the G3 is made to the minimum requirements for the job.

I have an old Polaris plow and it will work on gravel & dirt if you take your time. It doesn't raise high enough so I wouldn't recommend it today, even though it is well built. I'm sure there are much better designs now. I'd call Thor and trust his input if I were in the market now.

I got the Warn front mount system last winter and man is it awesome! Real heavy duty, easy on, easy off. Highly recommended.
