2008 Sportsman 300

hello, my sportman 300's fuel indicator is not working and is most likely stuck. it is not electronic and i was wondering if i could somehow get it out of the fitting and replace it thanks

The same thing happened to mine. Take the gas cap off and pop the black plastic off the top of the tank. You can grab the gauge and twist it out with your hand. On mine, the two rods that hold the float came out of the gauge. I used a rod with a magnet and fished out the assembly. Do the same with the float with a piece of wire. I used some adhesive that was gas resistant and glued them back in. Make sure you got the float lined up properly so it will show full when full. Hope this helps. JB

Thanks alot, I'll try it when I get the time. And just a random question, did your speedometer happen to stop working too? Cause mine did lol thanks.

And what do you twist off? The whole thing or just the part where it tells the gas?

The gauge is black and the tank is red. Grab a hold of the plack part at the base and wiggle it side to side as your pulling up. It's on there pretty good but will eventually come out. The rest of float assembly will be inside the tank if it came apart like mine did. The two metal rods are hot pressed into the plastic gauge and have vibrated out over time.

thanks everyone, and the 2 rods and float did fall off, so i used the magnet to fish it out put it back together with a little silicone where they go in and works good! now on to my next minor problem, my speedometer bummed out lol im ordering a new one and hopefully that works! thanks again
