I found where the OP (tjack) answered someone else!!
"i would put some gear fluid in the gearcase... fill it up to the bottom of the fill hole make sure you do not fill past the threads in the fill hole. hope it works."
The next poster (chopperbill) said "The belt and pulleys are probably grungy from use and causing the driven pulley to turn at idle. Take the belt off and clean it and clean the pulleys. Or your idle is set to high. Or it has the wrong belt on it."
trouble getting into gear (grinding) 350L
I am having the same grinding problem, but it started when my carburetor got fouled. I think it was because I had to keep the idle way up, so once I get my carb cleaned right and back on, my problem may go away.
