Video cameras
Anyone use a mini video camera?
I have a EPIC Stealth I bought years ago. Aside form the crappy sound form wind noise, I like it.
What do you have and how do you mount it?
I have a mount on my front box and another on my handle bars, up high so I can use it rearward or forward facing...
Post up what you have (PICS PLEASE!) and what you like and why!!
I would like a GO-PRO, but cannot justify the $$ now...

CW ive been looking very hard at the GoPro HD i already asked Santa for one this year. They are a bit pricey but 1080 HD are you kidding!! I would love nothing more than to take my out of town family and friends on a ride with me. Not to mention video evidence to backup my bragging!! lol This should be an interesting thread and hopefully insightful as well. What else can you tell us about your camera? Performance..price..etc Thanks!

The EPIC has a couple models. Starting at 75$ going up to 300+$ for the top models. There are better, but for the cost of my cheap version (40$ refurbished on EBay) it works for me. 5MP still shots with up to a nine shot burst mode and two video resolutions and a 2X zoom more. IIRC its a 135 degree lens.
Here is one of the clips I made with it being hand held while I filled my fuel tank on a recent trip.

2 guys I ride with both use GoPro HD's and they shoot very well. Here's one example and he has a lot more on his YouTube channel. They suck up a ton of memory so get lots of cards!

I just clicked your link... 26 minutes!!! No wonder the files are large!!!
Yes i know the file size. The Epic is not great in tgat reguard either. I keep three SD cards 2 gb each rarely need tbird. It also EATS batteries!!!! I try to keep clips to under five minutes and 60 sec are better!!
If i hit the lottery or have a good week OT wise maybe ill treat with the GO PRO... I know its good!

I know, 26 minutes is crazy long! I don't even know how he gets them to upload properly at that size! The other guy who has the same camera has to stop after 10 mins to change cards, I think he only has 1 or 2 gig sticks where this guy uses 8 gig. I can't even watch more than 10 minutes, and that's with a great song playing It does shoot well at night however. I am going to look for one of those epics on ebay, 40 bucks is more my speed for something like this.

Its been pretty good for me. I am going to experiment with my new placement and covering the speaker. If I make a "movie" I would add my own music anyhow... I like to mix in pics of the rider too, at least in rougher areas...

I run a tachyon Micro XC with lithium AAA's and a 16Gb Card, pretty well 4 hours continuous shooting at 640x480 with no compression so the footage looks good even on a 42"LCD TV, they have newer models now with rechargable packs and HD recordeing, they even have a 3D system, all very cool but not what I need.
Mounts on the later models are better, mine is somewhat limited...
Best regards - MM

MM,
I looked at this unit and really liked what I saw!! I saw one on EBay for good $$ But missed bidding...
For now, I'll keep my EPIC for this upcoming trip. I covered the mic with silicone so hopefully it will not be so bad with the wind noise. I don't really care about voices... IF I get good footage, I'll combine into a video and add my own music anyhow.
Pop bought a Midland 150. It s a nice little unit with one slide button. (Easy for him to use!)
This is a clip about a M100 but its about the same..
I drilled and tapped a hole thru the hand guard mount to attach a stainless steel 1/4x20 threaded rod and some nuts and lock washers, for a mount. LOOK's OK time will tell...
Uses a MINI SD card and AAA batteries. Seems to work well... attaches with a 1/4x20 camera type mount.
I got him a Garmin GPS like mine too, so we can not need to learn different units and WHEN the dust takes its toll.. we are not out big $$
I was hoping for more activity here... anyone else with some comments??
