UNI filter make bike run lean?

I put a UNI on the bike today and was wondering if it will cause it to run lean... it has a 150 main jet and a 40 pilot I believe...Temps are above 40degrees F

I am wondering though how it would run on stock jetting....

Thumbs up

kool 500HO,Mike here.I was running a uni before and after. The uni gives it more air and freshser air.You shouldn't have any problems. Is there any one else out there with a different oppion? They are easier to clean and reusable to a point.I thought of going to a K&N filter but just haven't yet.Mike

after joining this site and seeing that every one uses a Uni filter I ran out and bought one...with filter oil and cleaner about 70 bucks...one ride on this filter and its a brown like paste, it takes me 2 times to get it clean and about 4 days of washing and drying....My mechanic said to throw it away you dont need it and just use the stock filter...I just bang it a couple of times to get the dust off and your good to go....I did not notice a difference from the stock filter to the uni...other then the uni is messy to clean and put oil on it....I dont like it personally.I have since put the stocker back in...and also the uni filter seems to be a little to big for my air box and the outer red filter always gets scrunched up...not to happy with how much maintenance has to go with the uni....for me its just easier to buy a stocker every now again......just my opinion.....

I run a Uni because of my location more than anything. Florida. It is dusty as hell here. From the research ive done a paper filter isnt what you want in high dust rides and vice versa for wet(snowy) conditions. K&N filters are probably great in the Northern part of the country. Sorry bout your luck Skizmo with the uni brand but honestly ive never had an issue with mine. Ive had it in there for about 7 months and cleaned it 4 times at the most. Im not sure that your airbox isnt sealed good enough and maybe you are getting extra dirt in there? Anyways not all parts or brands or mods are right for everyone, and taking into consideration how and WHERE you ride will also determine the effectiveness of the part(s) you install. JMO

BTW EVERY ride i take which is at least once a week...i check my oil, my coolant, my tire pressure, and my airfilter. EVERYTIME lol We ride at the very least 30 or so miles every Friday night with a nice group of people. Im the only one riding a Polaris. No way in hell i want another brand pulling me home lmao so reliability is tops for me. my mods will get here eventually. Back to my point.. my uni filter has gotten dirty only a handful of times. I mean like..time to pull it clean it dry it reinstall it. I have no complaints about Uni and still recommend their filter!!

I think it is my air box as well...so for you to say that it makes me think I'm on the right track...part of the seal is squished and i could see a trail of dust...im gonna try the uni in the fall again when its rainy and see if it works better for me.Im not givin up*on it,just experimenting.I just dont want to have to clean a filter after every weekend of riding.

I checked my plug after a ride with the UNI today and the ceramic again was white but not as white as it was with the pipe on... It seems like these bikes lean out at WOT for max power because even with stock filter on a long WOT run the plug seems white anyway....It starts fine, no bogs or hiccups, not cuttin out top end... Has lots of jump in the throttle and power all over the rev range... So it's kinda hard to tell...
