Question Codes?Running bad!!!

Mike here,2007 Polaris 500 EFI HO LE,keeps pulling codes 41---22---45---55.Thought I cleared the ECM but it keeps pulling these codes.I've disconnected the battery for 10 hrs. while at work, the book says 20 sec..Got home,re-connected(Did not even crank it)and checked it for codes.Same codes....Do I need to run it and or warm it up to clear everything? The bike runs perfect most times, when you least expect it,it pops,back-fires and hard to crank. It will not go until it reaches about 3300 rpms and sometimes it won't then.I might recrank and runs perfectly.Seems like when I really get it in a bad situation,DEEP mud,Water up to the factory snorkels or pulling hard it runs fine.Any suggestion out there?I've had this problem since I bought it new.The ""DEALER"" could not even figure it out. They told me last week to install the new wiring harness to the T-Map sensor.I did and thats when it started pulling code 22.Code 22 was "NEVER" there before. All help will be Greatly Appreciated,Mike

Could it be that your TMAP sensor is internally shorted and the ECM is getting a wrong voltage reading. Maybe your TPS circut has an open short to grd, or a short to battery. I believe code 22 is your TPS circut.

I have a list of the codes for the twins 06-08 at home. I am not sure if its same for your machine.

I can check. Once you know I would pull commection, clean grease and re install. I would also remove, thouroughly clean battery connections, grease and reinstall tightly. Sounds like grounding problems.

Wink Done Deal!

cwlongshot,Mike here. Thanks for the reply. All connections have had and still have diaelectric grease. No corrosion or bad looking terminials. This thing has been pulling the same codes since I purchased it new in Oct.2007.Still can't seam to get them to go away. After the installation of the new plug to the T-map is when it started to pull the code 22(never before).Polaris said that was the problem.I am going to check the sensors out this weekend according to the book and check the power readings.I'll keep you posted. Thanks againMike

Mike , I almost hope that you find something wrong so that you can get rid of this 4 year old problem. Good Luck...Hawkeye.

Problem Solver???Don't know Yet!

Hawkeye07,Thanks.This is my first EFI and I like it.The bad thing is, I special order it and it is a Limited Edition.SunSet red, which matches my 2006 Z71.I may go back to a carbed model next time.My old 2000 500 sportsman 4x4 ran just as good up to about 35-40 mph. That was after I bored the jug .020,milled the head and jug .020.Never got to rejetting the carb but it ran great.Screwed up,just wanted a new one.I hope I do find the problem though, atleast I'll know I will get it fixed. One good thing is I'm a mechanic but not on ATV's.I've been working on them for years and that is where my experence comes from.I'll keep you posted,Mike

Live and learn...sold my Harley on a Monday and bought my Touring on the next day. Just so much traffic on the road now I thought I might live to see 59. We never grow up, we just get way cooler toys. I'm not a mechanic, I just tinker. It saves money though.

i am a certified polaris mechanic and did your dealer hook up your machine to the computer? and run the machine?retrieve the code, fix the problem, clear the code with the computer, rerun the machine with the computer hooked up,up to operating temp and rechecking to see if the code was still clear?plus all the sensors can be checked on the computer when its still hooked up.you might be better off taking the machine to a different dealership.

ReRead Codes???

mstermechanic907,Mike here. You are the MAN.Thanks for replying with such great knowledge. The bike pulled codes 41 and 45 after I picked it up new and went on our first weekend ride.A total of 26 miles and 11.1 hrs.I have this logged down in my records as I do with my trucks, backhoe, lawnmower boat and even when I service the wheel bearings on my trailers. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it.I had taken it in for the 10 hr.service.The next trip of about the same time and miles the water pump went out and kept pulling the same codes.I kept checking with them, first they had to order the seal kit, then they had to order the tools to remove it and install it.I never took this thing in the mud or water for over a year or so.It is SunSet Red and It says Special Edition on it.It was Special ordered and matches my truck.Supposedly nothing wrong told me to ride it and not be so picky. The 3rd time he said it was pulling the codes because I injested water into the ECM.Said they replaced it,and should be fine.By this time the Warranty has expired. This was about March of 2008.Been dealing with it ever since.According to the book I can check the sensors out myself with a volt-ohm meter. Is this true?Any help at all would be very appreciated as I said before.I have the schematics for the switches and such,Please advise. Thanks again Mike
