Dynojet Kit Installed
Got the dynojet kit installed today, Put in the DJ 160 main jet running a slip on and a filter... Needle on 3rd posistion and air screw turned out 2 full turns...
Think the main is enough for both a pipe and a filter???
This is what dynojet says
"For mildly tuned machines using the stock airbox with
stock or aftermarket filter. May also be used with a
good aftermarket exhaust system"
"STAGE ONE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove vacuum slide from the carb. Remove stock needles & spacers, noting order of assembly (Fig. A).
2. Install Dynojet needle on groove#3 for applications below 3000 feet, groove #2 for above 3000 feet, using
all stock spacers. Install the Dynojet washer above the E-clip.
3. Remove the stock main jet. If you are running the stock exhaust use the DJ155 below 3000 feet, DJ150
from 3000 to 6000 feet and DJ146 above 6000 feet. If you are running an aftermarket exhaust, use the
DJ160 below 3000 feet, DJ155 from 3000 to 6000 feet and DJ150 above 6000 feet. Be sure that the jet you
are changing is the main jet. NOTE: Make sure that the stock main jet spacer is reinstalled along with the
Dynojet main jet.
4. Locate the Fuel Mixture Screw (Fig.B). If you see a screw head at Fig. B then proceed to the adjusting
procedure. With the 5/32 drill bit provided carefully drill through the plug. NOTE: The mixture screw is
directly underneath this plug, be ready to pull back on the drill the instant you break through. Use the screw
provided to secure and remove this plug. Using a flat blade screwdriver, turn the mixture screw clockwise
until it seats, then turn out 2 turns below 3000 feet or 1.5 turns above 3000 feet."
I did all that, So do you think I'd be good with this set up with a pipe and filter??

Sounds like you've done you "do diligence," how's it running now that it's done? Have you put any time on it since you installed it?
I've thought about re-jetting and piping but the whole below 3000, above 3000, above 6000 makes me a little nervous since many times I start at 1800 and end up at 6000. If it's that finite, I would expect some roughness at altitude. The factory jets say they're good from 0-6000 and I haven't had any issues at altitude yet running stock.

as long as you are pulling the right rpms at all throttle settings and your sparkplug is the right color and the idol is right, also the engine temp is good than you should be safe,if not you need to adjust the main jet + or - one size depending on how its running and if you are pulling top rpms at full throttle.

On a flat and level road the bike will rev right up till about 6950 rpm and no more.... That's flat out WOT... Bike when first started, rpm hovers around 1050, as it warms up it climbs and then when warm it stays around 1200-1250... Engine temp, not sure what it reaches, the temp light never comes on is all I know...
Plug color was starting to turn brownish before the jet kit the more I drove the bike... I installed the jet kit and took it up the road WOT a few runs and then shut it off let er coast and checked er and the plug started to burn off the brown on the plug and got lighter...
But I followed all of DJ's instructions for below 3000ft... Got the DJ 160 main jet installed, needle 3rd from top, a/f mix screw backed out 2 full turns... And I am just running a filter... stock pipe, airbox everything
