Lowrance Elite 5 GPS
I just finished the first part of this installation and not sure on the power hook ups so thought I would post the question.
I was able to mount the GPS to the light module easy enough. But connecting the power is my question. Do I hot wire it or attach it to the switch power. Note I am not sure how to hook up the switched power .
I would need some information on what wires to connect them to. I am attaching pictures of the mounting if that would to help others on thoughts on this.
I used the default mount that came with the Elite 5 unit. I was going to purchase a Ram Mount but this worked out fine. Not sure on the windshield yet but it is water proof but thoughts of rocks or twigs hitting it doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy feeling either.
Any thoughts are very welcome.

I cant tell from your pictures if your machine has a power port (cigarette lighter type) plug but I would bet it does. Mine is in the side of the light pod. You can rig up a cigarette lighter plug to your GPS power wires and plug it into the port. That way you can unplug it when you want to take the GPS off. Or you can tie into the wires for the plug in the pod to hard wire it. I think the hot wire is orange and grey and the ground was brown(I think). Follow the wires from the plug. This port is already fused and should handle power for your GPS with out problems.

In the future if I wanted to wire in heated hand grips would the line for the cigarette lighter also have enough power for that and the GPS ?

I have my heated grips and my heated thumb throttle tied into the power port. On top of that I have plugged in my heated helmet visor into the power port and I haven't ever had a problem. That being said the wires for the power port look to only be about 16 gage. I don't know how much juice the GPS takes or the grips you plan to run (mine are Polaris brand) but I would think that it would work. You might want to run the GPS with a plug into the port at first to see if it will handle everything. If so then you can hard wire the GPS in. If not then you might have to run a fused wire directly from the battery for the GPS and find a good ground up in the pod. You can add a switch in line and put it on the pod if you want to be able to turn it off and on.

Thanks for the info Bakada
I think I am going to put it in the existing switch power line for the cigarrette lighter line.
What grips are others using I saw some nice looking zone grips from symtec also.
2-Zone ATV Controller Winter Pak
Looks like we could have 4 zones for one for me back seat and one for thumb and one for my hands would be nice with different temps also.

I spliced it in to the power for the lighter and all working well.
Checked it a couple times and it works great. The Lowrance finds the location with in a minute.
Thanks for the help.
