I need help with winch install!!!

Well today I attempted to install a Warn winch on my '10 Sportsman 800.

First thing to go wrong was the self-tapping bolts ended up stripping out only one of them will torque to 18 pounds. I was going to put nuts on the other side to see if that would work. Any other suggestion would be great!

Second mishap, I went ahead and wired everything up. When I went to test the winch the connector would click but the winch does nothing. I used the factory installed battery cords for the winch.

Welcome aboard! Nuts on the back side is OK. Get a good nites sleep, then recheck your wiring again tomorrow. It's usually something you overlooked.

Nuts are better anyway.
Make sure you connected the red (positive) #6 cable to the battery. Polaris runs the cable for you, but does not connect it to the battery. May also want to check the black (negative) wire as well. Mine came with the negative already connected.

Make sure you connected winch power to your battery. Sounds like you have just the contactor connected to power. Ask me how I know.

Thanks a lot guys!!! That was exactly what was wrong I didn't have it hooked up to the battery. Unfortunately the girlfriend hinted towards that last night and I completely wrote her off. I hate telling her she's wright!

Glad you got her fixed boss!

Don't worry happens to all of us. I was wrenching on my chevy truck, and my girlfriend (who is very mechanically inclinded herself, changes her own oil and more) suggested a fix for my truck, I blew her off that night. Turns out she was right. Lol. I didn't live that down for a couple days.
