Help with 90cc sportsman PLEASE!!!
2003 Polaris Sportsman 90cc...had old gas in it. Took out carb, cleaned it, cleaned gas tank out, fuel lines, etc. It starts up okay...but when I try to give it fuel, it boggs down and dies...if I turn the fuel off when its running...when the carb is just about empty...the idle kicks in perfect, and it runs like a brand new atv for about 5 seconds. I have also replaced plug, and filter. I have taken the carb apart three times, and re-cleaned just to see if that helped. Jet is clean...Oil res. is full and it has new gas in it....and help would be great.

If shutting the fuel off with little fuel in the carb makes it run better for a few seconds, it sounds like it might be running way too rich.

float seems to work and move fine...no visable holes or cracks...maybe oil pump is not working right? Can I premix and just fill the tank?

I went through the same thing, cleaned the carb, new plug etc. next time you start it put on the park brake or raise the rear drive tires off the ground. Rev it, if it bogs let off and tap the side of the carb a few times ( i use the back of a screwdriver) then try again to rev it. I found that tapping mine will after a few tries let it work properly. I looked for a carb rebuild kit but polaris does not sell them and I have not found after market rebuild kits. I have found the carbs on e-bay (probably from china) for about $50.00. Try the tapping and let me know if it helps. also does fuel run out the bottom if you leave the gas on?

mine is doing the same but my petcock still flows gas even tho it is off. seems like it runs perfect at idle but go to rev it and it seems like its starving for fuel i took the spark plug out and the tip is whitish which tells me its lean (not enough fuel)
