run the dalton, you will not be disapointed. all the other kits are very generic. a big plus with the dalton kit is that it's adjustable. you can set it up for bigger tires or fine tuning with stock height tires. i was absolutely blown away with the performance of my 850 now , no top speed loss. epi kits are priced right but you will loose top speed, plus they mess with the secondary clutch and from the factory they are perfect. dale dalton does major r&d before he sells anything. give them a call they will set you right up with a setup that works for you and your 550.

Quad Shop Customs will set you up with what you need. It's what most mud riders use.

Just throwing the options out there. Depends on your riding style and also what you have seen others use and work. Most down here run the QSC with 29.5-32" tires. I have no experience with dalton but it sounds about like QSC. You call them with your machine, wheel/tire size, and riding style and they will hook you up with what you need based on that. Not just grab something off the shelf like EPI or some others. Not saying that EPI is no good either, because I have run them, but have lost top end speed. Not an issue for me because I ride max 30mph due to riding only mud/water. Narrow your search down to a couple and give them a call. See who gives you the warm fuzzy. lol.

You do have me curious about the dalton now though cause I have never tried them. I will be giving them a call and see what they say they recommend for my application.

the 550xp really does not need a clutch kit with 27" tires. really big mud tires ok but i would leave it alone myself. dalton does not make a kit for the 550xp.
