Reverse override mod 2011 500 ho
Did this to my 2011 500 HO and it works great. Real easy to do and only took about 20-30 minutes.
Reverse mod- pull the headlight pod off and disconnect the two harnesses going to it. On the big harness locate the gray/orange wire and use a splice connector with another 8" piece of wire and have a female spade end connected to it. Now do the same with the brown(ground) wire coming off the lighter/accessory plug. Hook the two female spades to a toggle switch that you can mount on the pod and you are done. You will have to turn the switch to the "off" position to use the yellow override button to scroll through the different modes or if a young or inexperienced rider is on it for safety.

This sounds a lot easier than the other method of using the dual relays. How has it been working for you? I was thinking there has to be a way to just hard wire the yellow button itself *if you never want to use the factory default 2WD reverse. Your way sounds a little better.

Update and Explaination
Pgmudder how has this reverse override mod been working for you? Can you explain to me what you have done in a little more detail? Im curious about what wires you taped into and what the thought pattern was.
Thanks.

We did this as well. Your overriding the PDM with a switch so that you don't have to push the yellow button for full time 4x4 drive in reverse. His instructions above are detailed enough as this is exactly how you have to do it.
We also did this for a fan over ride switch which works the same way but with a different wire configuration.

I undestood his instructions I was just wanting to understand the theory behind it. It seems so simple.
I'm also interested in doing the Fan Override aswell. Do you what wires need to be tapped into for this?

Basically the override is to eliminate from having to push the yellow button to engage full 4x4 functionality in reverse.
I found this on another forum with a wiring diagram. You'll tap into the wires from either inside your pod or the wire loam running down the neck of your steering rack.

The fan override is so I can manually manage when the fan turns on and off. We ride in swamps and water a lot so I we didn't want that fan spinning under the water. I'll see if my buddy can post up the exact wiring color for you (born2rescue).
