Lift Kit ??

I have a 2011 Sportsman 800efi and I have a question concerning lift kits. I'm thinking about installing this kit, Polaris Sportsman Lift Kit 500 600 700 800: 1999-2011 | eBay and my question is....

If I add this lift kit to my machine, will I have any premature wear to "U-joints" or any other part????

I don't ride hard or do much tearing around on it. I use it for plowing snow, getting back and forth to the lake icefishing, a 25 mile round trip. I may pull a disc around for a food plot during the summer but, its not that large. I've most likely purchased my last machine (according to the wife) and we both would prefer it to last. However, becasuse of the Glacier III plow wear bar, which I already have to replace this week after just a couple uses, I'm going with a thicker and also wider wear bar. A 2" lift would keep me within my current raised height.

Thus the question.....

With the lift kits on the 2011 you will need to also purchase the rear axle bar kit from higlifter, or gorilla axles. The stock rear axles do not work with a lift on the 2011 model. As far as premature wear, anytime you increase the angle of the axles you also increase the chances of breaking one. That being said, as long as you are carefull with the throttle, and just get pulled out when stuck, the axles should last just fine.

Thank you... I guess I'm just going to get buy with what I have. I don't run it hard but, thought it might help get the plow higher.

you could put a 2 inch spacer under the front spring or get HD springs. That would help if you don't already have that.

the HD springs would help, or you can hillbilly rig it. I just bought 2 hockey pucks, cut out holes big enough to fit around the struts, and put them under then springs. I gained a little clearance but my springs are stiffer and won't drop as far.

I would go with the HD springs , they raised my 09 HO 2 1/2 inches in the front ! It gives it a much a meaner look ! $50.99

The "moose pregressor" adjustable spring inserts are also an option. I just installed them on my 500HO and it lifted the front some. Basically increases spring preload by 1".

My ATV-GURU bumpers ARE FOR SALE, front and rear, BRAND NEW. Me a reasonable offer and they are YOURS.

(As you probably already know, they are currently unavailable from TheAtvSuperstore.com /ATV-Guru for an undisclosed amount of time).

is 2011 a different axel design than that of a 2009, I too is thinking of putting on a 2" lift on my 09 800, most say with 26" tires I'll be alright with my stock axels.

The fender flares came off ebay from allsportperformanceinc
The HD springs came from Honda East Toledo , a supporting vendor on this site. I just installed them on the front , helps with the extra weight of the snow plow!
