So I was out plowing today again just mulling things over whie going back and forth. It came to me suddenly. With the reverse override via the worklight switch, everytime I shifted into forward the machine thought I was still holding the yellow button down. Therefore it was reseting the trip meter. I changed the display to the hour meter and flipped the reverse override switch. When i was done, sure enough the trip meter showed how far I had gone plowing. So, if you want an accurate trip meter reading, don't have the trip meter displayed while the reverse override switch is flipped. The machine will think you are constantly re-zeroing the trip meter. Hope that helps.
PS my wife's (the '07) has reverse override done via a bunch of messy relays. It does not reset the trip meter. I wish hers was done via the simple worklight switch as it is much cleaner inside the pod. Unfortunately I don't know how they did it and I think I would have to replace the whole wiring harness to undo it. So I am leaving it alone.
