Synthetic rope set up.. fairlead help???

You don't tie knots in synthetic. The knot becomes a very weak point in the rope. Google "Splicing 12-strand synthetic". Most synthetic winch ropes come with an eye already spliced at one end. As for the rubber winch savers I just drilled a hole in an old golf ball and threaded the rope through it. Cheap and works like a charm.

12 strand eye splice. Super easy to do. Search it on the forum. I did a walk thru on it a year or so ago.

You go to search and look up synthetic rope, there was a link someone posted on how to tie hooks onto synthetic rope, i remember looking at it recently. I think it comes down to the type of knot that needs to be tied. For the thimble, you’re going to have to get a bigger one or get a chain connector. I believe there called safety chain quick links. (it looks like a link of chain that opens and spins shut) to attach your hook. I went with Warrior too.

I also got mine from Warrico . One end is terminal and the other end has a small piece of tape on it . I was told the terminal end was to mount the line to the winch if needed , if I don't need it to cut it off. But I see no thimble !

Got the rope in the mail today. Mine has the thimble in it & looks very stout. I like the way they put heat shrink around the spiced end. Well done Warriorco!! Gregv get in touch with them & find out why
it doesn't have one. It'll make attaching the hook allot easier!!!

My plow line is from Warriorco too. Here's what it should look like. I've also thrown in a picture of a terminal end for comparison.

Phil said most winches will NOT need the terminal end. My Polaris 2500# did not. I just pushed the taped end into the small hole with a Torx head screwdriver and once it was in place, slowly wrapped it as the winch pulled it in.

The only issue I had was the thimble was so stout that the winch hook was too small to fit over it. So, I am using a carabiner to hold the plow until I can buy a bigger hook/shackle. I hope this helps.

Good pics Lawdog!!! I'm gonna go the shackle route to attach the hook. I think they are stronger than the quick links. The carabiner was a good idea for hooking it to the plow!!!!!!!!!

Mine has the big loop on it , it must be the small end(terminal end) I ordered that I didn't get . I checked the terminal end option when I ordered , he said if I didn't need it I could cut it off . In some of the other threads the pictures don't look like they have the stainless steel thimble on the end of there cable with the winch saver !

Good to hear gregv!!! Installation was quick & easy, had no burs on flare head or drum. Best of all the hook fit over the thimble!!!!! Thanks again Warriorco!!!!!!!!

I just installed my winch saver on my steel cable, it has only been used a couple times to plow snow with . I'll just keep my synthetic rope for a spare .
