Aftermarket CDI
Hey guys, just found this site the other day and would like to say it's pretty awesome. I have a 2011 Sportsman 500 HO and I want to get all the performance I can out of it. I have ordered a Big Gun Evo full exhaust and jet kit, I have already changed the air filter. I plan on getting a better spark plug once the other parts come in.
My question is are there any aftermarket performance CDI boxes out there that would be applicable to my bike? And also I am open to any opinions and suggestions on how to get the most outta my 500.

As far as I know there are no manufactures of aftermarket CDI's for 500. The fuel injected engines are a whole different story. With fuel injection there are a ton of parameters to play with. On a model with a carburetor there is little to no performance be gained from a CDI box. If a timing advance is what you after you can grind slots into the pulser coil and advance it at the flywheel. I did this on my street bike and noticed a very slight improvement. It was hardly worth the effort.

I went on E bay to find a CDI for my '96 300. All the stock boxes were over 400.00 ,but there were some aftermarket boxes that had better timing built in plus a rev limiter delete!! What a change!!!! Plus it was only $185.00 with a 3 yr. warrenty!!!

Go to ebay, punch in your info, and parts show up'. I found one on there just a little while ago called RICK'S HOT BOX. Mine made a BIG difference! Just gotta dig.

I've tried ebay and found nothing other than stock, also Rick's website has none for a 2011 Sportsman 500 HO. Thanks for the trying though.

Also, look at the header on here. Dyna-tec is a product I have used when working on bikes. Some place else to look bud.
