Factory Muffler Mod

Been doing a little research about muffler mods. All I can find is people doing it to the EFI models. I'm wanting to close off the factory tip and install a HMF end cap. Would this cause any issues with the engine performance such as running lean or rich? Has anyone done this to a carb model and if so how did it turn out?

Not really sure why I want to do this, just think it would look better and maybe even sound better. I have a 05 Sportsman 700 carb model.

I have an 11' sportsman 500 and I was wondering the same thing.

ok, well I did that to my 10 500 carb. ground off the stock outlet and welded it closed. Took a holesaw and cut a 1 3/4" hold in the end. Welded on a tip and voila to loud...lol, so then i caped off the tip and cut a 1 1/4" hole, tamed down the noise a bit, took the rasp out of it. Sounds healthy now and I picked up 1-2 mph.
