Exhaust, programming and oil????? Please check out

Ok i want to ask a few questions. First is there any exhaust kits that add a honestly noticeable difference?? I dont want to ever add something just to make it louder, i want performance. Also what about programming?? I have always had LT1 and LS1 hot rods and always knew the importance of a custom pcm tune. So i was wondering whats out there since the 850 xp is fuel injected and seems to be a hot rod 4x4 atv

And last i wanted to do my own 1st check up and ordered a oil change kit. It did come with 2 qaurts of the PS-4 plus synthetic and a 2540086 polaris oil filter. I thought it was for mine which is a 2011 850 xp but it says for the 700 v twin. Is it possible the 700 and the 850 use a universal oil filter and also the same oil?? If my local dealer just had extra oil change kits for the 700 and its all the same im all good with that. Please help out on these questions if ya can. Thanks jake

Here is my 2 cents. Slip-ons do nothing more then change the look of the muffler, and the sound (usually louder). I know, because I put a slip on on my sportbike.

If you do a full system exhaust, you have the potential to make noticeable power improvements. But usually, we gotta bring more into the motor too, so we need to do some airbox mods to improve the airflow. And then we wrap it up with a fuel tuner, like a Power Commander. The PC V has a cool auto-tune feature, which is suppose to work pretty good. Nothing probably beats a good solid dyno tune though. But your probably not going to see any noticeable changes, with just one of these mods, you're going to need them all tuned and working together. I have a friend with an 2009 850XP. He did a big gun full exhaust, some simple airbox mods, and a Power Commander on it, and he got very noticeable gains in power. If felt like it was going to rip your arms off if you hammered the throttle.

You have to think of it as a kit, if your going t do it for improvements other then just sound.

As far as the oil change goes. All polaris 4 strokes take the same engine oil. the 2qts of PS4+ oil is correct for you. The filter is not. There are essentially 3 kinds of filters.

Non-XP single cylinder filter
Non-XP twin cylinder filter
XP model filter

You did get the non-XP twin cylinder filter. That filter will fit any 600, 700, or 800 Ranger or Sportsman. You need a different filter. Luckily they can be found online for less then $10.

That same experience applies. You probably know more about then I do.

But yeah, after my buddy did the full exhaust, airbox mods, and a fuel controller installed and tuned, we took it outside and I grabbed one of our stock 850s and we ran head to head. He walked the stock 850 everytime. We switched, I rode his machine, he rode the stocker, and I bet him everytime with his modded 850.

I was working for a Polaris dealer at the time.

Do it right. It'll pay off.
