EPI Primary Clutch Spring
I recently purchased a red primary clutch spring from EPI. Lost some low end power after installing bigger tires. Am I correct by saying that I don't need to pull the primary clutch to replace the spring?

Yes. Just undo the retaining bolt and the cover bolts and the old spring will come out.
Rather be riding, instead I'm using Tapatalk

I want to do the same with mine even though I'm running a stock setup. How did you decide what spring to go with?

I read somewhere on here that the red EPI primary spring is the best bang for the buck. Especially if you only have added wheels and tires. The entire kit is not necessary. I will report back with how it performs.

OK guys. Did the install last night. Overall it wasn't that bad to do. The most aggravating thing was getting the plastic footwell off.
I took the bike around the house this morning for a quick test run. You can definitely tell it has the low end torque back.
Now for the bad. Maybe this is completely normal but now it has a hesitation in the throttle before the bike will take off. The engine revs up and then grabs. Kinda actually jerks to be honest. Does this in both forward and reverse. Is this normal? If so, will this go away after the spring breaks in? If not, is there anything I can do to help this?
Thanks

From what I understand, those negative characteristics are the trade-off of going to a heavier spring. It takes more time to build up to the higher RPMs to overcome the initial load of the spring and begin engagement. Check the spring chart and there may be a happier medium between your stock spring and that aggressive red spring.

I could be wrong because I am not familiar with CVTs...based on the mechanics there will be more lag and a harder hit. The engine has to rev higher before engagement, which increases lag time. When it engages, the engine is at a higher RPM putting out more horsepower at the moment the belt grabs. That is the point of the spring, that when it engages you have more power on the low end turning the heavier tires.
I have the red spring, but am not going to install it until I get new tires.
