welcome! how do you like your XP so far?
a power commander isnt going to help you at all unless you do airbox mods(more then just a K&N filter) and a full performance exhaust system. actually it will probably make it slower and run like crap because all it does is piggy back on FI system and change the signal before it gets to the injectors. it allows you to control how much fuel the injectors are going to push through. but stock you dont need more fuel through the injectors, itll make it too rich.
probably the best thing to do is to get a clutch kit, exhaust, and then maybe a power commander, depending on the exhaust.
or you could check out these guys. they have a speed kit already set up for you....and awesome customer service. if you get in touch with them, they will get you all set up and do all the leg work for you

*moved thread to performance and modification section. although we most definitely welcome you here, and it is your first post and introduction, i believe given the nature of this thread more people in the future with a similar question will have an easier time finding it here.
...and to clarify the exhaust thing. if you get just a slip on, you probably dont need a power commander as the EFI should be able to compensate for the difference, if you get a full exhaust, then you will absolutely want a power commander. and..... if you go with a set up that needs a power commander, make sure to mount it in a convient location so you can fine tune the FI system while on the trail. somewhere like under the seat or front or rear storage box.
if your not concerned with noise, exhaust for sure!

Let it brake in a little more too. I noticed mine is really started to making more power around 500 miles or so..

realdeal
the stock clutching of the 850 is very good for stock tires,if you did the clutch kit it will give you a better hole shot just from the higher engagement rpm but do not look for a huge gain. the 850xp is what it is,a big, heavy trail quad. if you could shave a 100lbs off it and install a pipe and a power commander with a dyno tune and the clutch kit then you would notice a change.
