Performance Mods for Sportsman 500 HO
Long time reader, short time member.
Now that I have had my sportsman 5 ho for a year, I want to begin the mods. Well, I have wanted to begin them for a while now, but am finally getting to it instead of buying another sport quad. Looking for performance without sacrificing durability. Was thinking the normal air filter, exhaust and clutch kit. What works best on this bike? I have seen the hot seat performance kit and that is one stop shopping which I'm sure we all like, but is it the best for the bike?
Any and all input is appreciated, thanks folks.

Hot seat is pretty good.Is it the best? IMO No but they do have good products and I wouldn't be afraid to use them.

Exactly. With all the different types of air filters, exhaust systems and clutch kits are there are any that are said to work better than others for this machine, or are any tried and proven to be junk?

I have been looking at clutch kits and heel clicker seems to have good reviews.

Thank you for some input, I have read that as well.
Also, drive belts. Stick to the stock Polaris one, or are any aftermarket belts less prone to slipping or any other issues?

I have always had great service and performance results from Hotseat. If you want something for general all around improvements they are great. If you need something specific you have to call the shop and give them as much info as possible as I know they do alot of stuff for some race teams that they don't make public. And each racer has specific applications. Polaris belts rock.

As for pure suggestions:
1. K&N and Uni are good!
2. Clutch kits from Aaen, Dalton, EPI, Heelclicker, and Quadshop Customs are all good!
3. Exhaust systems or just slip-on exhausts from Aaen, FMF, HMF, Hotseat performance, Looney tuned, Muzzy, and Quadshop Customs are good!
Depending on how you plan to use and where you ride your bike should be the deciding factors as far as what mods and which manufacturers you choose to purchase the parts you need!!
Good luck with you choices!
