Low End Improvement for a 550xp???
just bought my first 4-Wheeler 2 months ago. 2009 550XP
On a flat road, my sporty hits 60-62mph (depends on wind)
but it takes a long time to wind up to it.
i would like more get up and go and im willing to lose some top end for more snap. a buddy traded in a '06 500 HO EFI for a new '09 850XP. he claims that his old 500 felt snappier than my 550XP. can this be true?
im leaning on getting a clutch kit but the market looks limited for the 550's, i've found several other options for the 850's. i also plan on upgrading the tires so i will need a clutch kit to get em turnin!
This is the only clutch kit ive found for a 550. are there any others?
these are the tires im lookin at. 27x9x14 / 27x11x14
ive read some stuff about having to bend a swaybar, any tutorials on what exactly we're bending and how to do it best?
and i'd prefer to stay away from exhaust and intake for now.

I have a 550 xp and mine runs about the same. I can tell you you'll lose some with those 27" tires. I am not sure your friend remembers how the quad he's referring to actually ran. Unless you just have a dog, yours should be noticeably faster.
My 550 is totally stock so I don't know much about clutch kits. Maybe some other guys will chime in.

They have 4 different kits for the 550/850. Stock tire low altitude, high altitude and big tire low altitude and high altitude. The last 4 digits go from 2586,2587,2588,2589.

ERROR in original post "it was a " 600 HO EFI" but either way...
question about the Hot Seat's?
they are labeled for "550XP/EPS" are they designed to work withOUT EPS also????
do these clutch kits have any special setup or tuning? or do you just replace the stock springs and weights with the new ones? any special tools?

tire questions.........
i want to use my stock rims. my terrathons are 26x8-14 and 26x10-14
for the brand i want, the 14" tire options are:
26x10
26x12
27x9
27x11
1. do i add 1" width and 1" of height all around? will i still have spacer issues?
2. or could i just put the 26x10 all around?
3. or do i keep the stock height and go 2" wider all around?
***i am assuming i can put a tire that is 2" wider on stock rims***

as far as hot seat goes, im 99% sure it will work on non-EPS machines. i cant imagine a single factor that would cause it not to work. but you can call them and ask. super friendly people, they will answer any question you have. thats why i always recommend them, their customer service is top notch. same with the tools question and what not. call them, talk to them, they will tell you what you need, what it takes to install it, everything. they do all the leg work for you and will stand behind their product if you have problems or questions, even way after the sale.

Look at an EPI Clutch Kit. I installed one on my 550 and it improved the low/mid range performance a lot. Top speed wasn't really affected either. I still can hit 60mph easily with no engine mods. It was a good investment and not to hard to install.
