04 sportsman 600. Installed EPI primary clutch and installed a Team performance roller secondary clutch but put the spring from the EPI kit for the secondary clutch in the team clutch. I didn't think it would hurt anything if I kept the right springs working togetter. Can I hurt anything having it this way? Please help.
Why wouldn't you install the parts that came in the kit as a whole? I mean I would expect that the manufacturer designed and tested all included parts to work at their optimum together. Changing any one thing could ruin any benefits.
Unless your an experienced clutch mechanic with intimate knowledge of the complete iderocincracies of CVT clutch operations. I would suggest you used supplied parts. Or at the very least contact manufacturer for their suggestions.
I kinda doubt any damage would occur. But long term effects like accelorated belt wear, would be unknown.
If it where me I would buy from a respected parts supplier. (As you have) Then trust that manufacturer to know what is best in their kits.
Uh, I think putting the Team Secondary roller in throws a whole new monkey into the scene. Your EPI kit came with a helix correct? I'm no clutch expert, but I think you probably have to use a different spring. Because the EPI kit's spring is made to go with the supplied helix, not the Team secondary roller. You may even have to change some of the weights and springs in the primary. Give EPI a call, they can help you out.
