2008 Sportsman 500 what do you think?

I am new to the 4x4 ATV realm, and might purchase a 2008 Sportsman 500, non-EFI model, w/ winch & snowplow, 650 miles. This would be my first 4x4 ATV, as I have had my share of sport quads in my younger days. I am not going to act like I know much about 4x4 atvs, and Polaris seems to physically look like the toughest one. Can anyone tell me what to look out for before I make this purchase? How does the non-EFI Sportsman 500 rate, and what would you pay for it in good condition. I appreciate the help, and look forward to getting hooked up with my new (used) Polaris!

make sure the AWD works! it's a great machine, just make sure you go over it well and look for any and all problems.

Take it out and ride it,make sure the 4x4 works, listen to any noises that don't sound right,last summer I paid 4k for my 05 500HO with 400 miles,camo and a winch. I like my machine,replaced starter solenoid and removed solenoid for the winch and I have a good machine.
