Price Question - 2011 Sportsman 500
I'm going to be getting a 2011 Sportsman 500. I live in CT. I went to one dealer who told me he could do it for $5600, and that price includes the rebate.
If the rebate is $300, he's only coming down $99 off MSRP? I'm new to the ATV world. Is this a normal deal or can he do better? I plan on visiting another dealer tomorrow but would like to have a better idea what sort of wiggle room there is in this market.

He can do better. Typically, before freight and set up fees, their profit is $500 to $1000 depending on the machine. On a sportsman 500, it's about a $500 markup. The rebate is not coming out of his pocket, so he makes about $400 before any more fees. This isn't too bad of a deal as long as he doesn't charge you freight and set up fees. If he does, walk away.
Being the end of the month, you might be able to find some dealers willing to sell below their cost to meet a sales goal so they can receive a good kickback from polaris

I just bought one for 5584 in Michigan near the Ohio border. It was 5099 before tax title and fees (140). Waiting until end of the month seems to be the ticket to get a better deal.

Thanks for the input. I visited another dealer that did it for $5300 with no fees so I went for it. The dealer has a great reputation from everybody I talked to.

I got the dealer to include some pure polaris parts like 2 or $300 dollers worth if you are going to get them anyway. They save on there markup for parts. and it's the same money to you.
