If the rebate is $300, he's only coming down $99 off MSRP? I'm new to the ATV world. Is this a normal deal or can he do better? I plan on visiting another dealer tomorrow but would like to have a better idea what sort of wiggle room there is in this market.

Welcome to the World of ATV'ing! Ok...here is the shocker...
MSRP
Freight = $300 - $600 depending
Setup or Prep Fee = sometimes combined with Freight fee
Doc fee = $50 - $229.00 ...more or less...
Here is where you need to be really...really careful in purchase of an atv. Yeah...the dealer reduces the price, but then will add all the fees. Guess what...? Now you are at or over MSRP...
Best way is to negotiate the Out the Door Price (OTD). As an example...I just purchased a 2011 Sportsman 850 Touring for $10,100.00 OTD. A fair price. My 2011 Sportsman 550 Touring...I got for $8400.00 OTD.
IMHO...your dealer should be able to do better.
Good luck...
