Pricing f-ed up!
Here in Canada I think we are getting screwed!! The Canadian dollar has been for a while and according to so-called experts , will be , either at par or better than the American greenback ! I understand the standard of living is a bit higher but not by much!! The pricing of ALL major brands not only PoPo is really outta whack! Only Porche recognises this and is reassing thier pricing. Ford , Gm and Dodge give a cash back and sorta appease us but NO Atv manufacturer does anything close. Anybody know why?
Feels good to vent!!!

I really stumbled across this when I was researching my next quad , an 850 x2 Le. It made me sick to see such a gap in pricing I would understand maybe a difference of 1000$ but 2300$ , thats just ROBERY.As I understand it my warrenty will be void if I buy in the states and bring it back?! At these stupid price differences I hope I'm wrong! If I'm not, I will NOT be buying anytime soon , or atleast until parity is in place! I urge All Canucks to join the boycott , maybe we can sennd a message!!
One po-ed hombre!!

As a fellow Canadian (and proud of the way we talk) I feel your pain having paid over $10,000 for my 09 XP 550 without EPS. It would be nice to pay what the Americans do in the states (Our southern neighbours, who talk just as cool as we do!). I would travel South to buy a Polaris even if the warranty would be voided. You would probably save over $2,000 from buying in the states. The warranty only lasts 6 months and if something breaks during that time period, pay for it to be fixed in Canada. You'll still probably end up saving from the original purchase.
If buying in the states I would make sure all of the recalls(if any) were fixed before you take delivery of the machine. That would be my only concern. I wouldn't want to pay for something in Canada that I could of had done for free before delivery in the US.

Polaris will honor recalls because there is a liability issue with all recalls. I would DEFINATELY buy one from the states before I paid those prices.

It's not the ATV makers, it's your taxes, VAT I think! CanAm is a Canadian company and their products are also more expensive up north. Most of the other makes are made in the US and exported to Canada, even the Japanese brands.
It's mostly to pay for your "free" healthcare. Remember, we in the US pay for our own health insurance or medical bills either directly or indirectly. So just think of it as buying an ATV and some health insurance.
If you buy in the US you'd better figure on smuggling it back to Canada or you'll have to pay import duties that are more than what you saved. If caught you may get fined or maybe even a free vacation courtesy of the RCMP.

I am in Vancouver and I can go to Portland and buy a 550 eps for $2,000 less than local pricing. No taxes in Oregan and I pay the HST at the border (which I would pay if I purchased in BC). I do not blame the local dealers. They pay more than their American counterparts. This issue is not unique to ATVs it happens in almost every product line. Manufacturers keep saying the cost of doing business in Canada is higher, I think it is more charge what the market will bear.
I have not made up my mind yet where I will be buying my 2 new 550 EPSs. $4,000 is worth a one day trip and as has been said the warranty is not worth that much.
