Sportsman 700 Twin
Hey guys, still on my venture to find a new 4-wheeler. The dealers in my area are unwilling to budge on pricing, even with Ben Franklin's waving in front of them. So I found a '03 Sportsman 700 twin, but know nothing of the twin motors. Can anyone tell me are they worth having. Are they more problems than the gains you get performance wise? They are asking $3900, which is only $600 above retail asking price. Has 170hrs and 1046 miles. I was thinking $3550 and see what happens, but wanted to know more about that particular motor more than anything. I have heard that they will guzzle gas a bit more quickly. Any other maintenance features I need to know about? Thank you again everyone for your help, hopefully I won't have to many "buyers questions" for you.

They do like to drink alot more gas! alot of 02-04 700 sportsman have a problem of overheating or cooling system issues, but they do have power. id say that price is a little high, i bought my 02 700 sportsman for $2,200 then got 200 back for parts but my speedo was trashed so i didnt know miles/ hours. Also MAKE SURE THAT THE AWD WORKS! thats another problems these quds have.

I think I need to move to where everyone else lives. I keep hearing how others are buying these quads for such a cheap price. It may be the area, but around here things aren't that cheap. Of course the county I live in is one of the most expensive counties in my state and surrounding states.

well i guess it all depends on how bad you want a quad and what kind you want. theres a few guys that get these quads and nothing but problems like mine has, but i think its mostly how the pervious owner treated it.
