can't decide Polaris 500 sportsman vs. Arctic Cat 450 H1 EFI

cant decide, both the same price, both new. the cat is a 2010, the polaris is a 2011. The cat has efi which is huge, while the polaris has a bigger motor, but still carbed. The cat seems like a tougher machine, but the polaris seems more comfy. Whats your honest opinion? please help!

You're asking on a Polaris forum?!?!? Just kidding. Personally, I"m an efi kind of guy. But I have a 2 week old 2011 Sportsman 500 sitting in the garage. I personally like the toughness and up-teen years of reliability that came with the Sportsman name. And carbs are easier to work on yourself or local trusted MC/ATV tech. EFI is a complicated mess and requires more manufacturer tools and service if things go array.

Also look at used prices of both. No idea about the Cat, the the polaris resale is pretty high, even on 3-5 year old machines.

"polaris forum" carbs now a days are simple... i had a carbed 700 and the reason i got rid of it was nothing to do with that....had motor issues... the sportsman has way better suspension and is damn reliable as shadyoaks has replied... efi is nice if your in cold temps, no choke, yet i never had any probs getting my 700 going... personally i hate Artic Crap... my uncle was a polaris die hard until the winch on his mv edition burnt his shop to the ground and bought a cat and has hated it since day one but will not buy for spite another polaris.... he just wants polaris to take responsibilty no money involved.... go polaris you wont be sorry

I have an01 500HO with well over 4,000 miles on it and have done nothing but change the oil and lube. Don't know about AC but search for shootouts on Dirtwheel magazine site. Good luck!

Tuff desission but I went with the Cat. I know the polaris is more comfy, but the AC looks like it could kick it's ass. Both are good machines I'm sure....

How is the fit and finish on the new Cats? I was looking at some 2009s and I thought it was terrible. Everything looked and felt cheap. Surprised me given their snowmobiles. Maybe they upgraded for the new ones.

The Motor in the 450H1 is a KYMCO motor, sweet little power house. The 450H1 is also on my list, that or Outty 500.

I can't stop looking at the 400/500 Sportsmans, just because they are Carb'd.

Looked at both machines before I bought my new 500 sportsman... The 500 sportsman by far felt like the better built machine, cat seemed real cheap... A lot of guys I know hate cat.. My cousin's mudpro has had a few problems already... would stay away from them myself...
