Buying 007 Polaris Sportsman 800 efi 4x4 with snow plow
First time potential owner of ATV. Buying 2007 Polaris Sportsman 800 efi 4x4 with snow plow. Coming through eBay and I have three days to checkout but no trailer to get it to anyone. What should I be checking? Has 742 miles and supposedly in great shape $1800.

I would be very cautious with this deal. Unless this machine is junk, it is worth way more than 1800.00

After more checking I am more convinced that this is an Internet scam. Thanks everyone (and my wife) for putting up my antennas. Can't blame a guy for looking.

Was this an actually ebay listing? I'd be surprised if it got that far as all the business I've seen there is legitimate.
Other thought was if this is your first atv, an 800 is a very powerful machine and not ideally suited for a first-timer. If your an experienced rider, maybe that'd be different. Whatever you get, you'll be sure to have a great time as a new owner!

I will ask this question, Is it Red with a Yellow snow plow with pictures of it in the snow? I ask because that description fits perfectly to an add on craigslist in St. Louis Mo. and Columbia Mo. that is a SCAM extraordinaire!! I would Run as fast as I could to avoid that deal!! Sorry that this is my first post but... Buyer beware!

Yes that's the one. It was posted on Craig's list in northern Virginia. I will go back to the drawing board and start my search a little slower. However it was great to find this list.

The age old saying of 'If it sounds too good to be true, it IS" applies here. An ATV with a list of half of its book value is enough to give pause at first glance.
I encountered a local scam back in December for a modded Brute Force 750 for that same $1800 price range. Yet another 'Mom' selling her dead son's ATV, (as he was killed in Iraq 4 months ago) because she couldn't bear to see it in the garage anymore.
The scams always appear to be for a modded ATV, never a bone stock one, and a quick google search turns up the scam is pervasive and used all across the country.
Its a disgusting thing to use a military family death as part of the scam, but there is no way to clue everyone into this crap, as they think they just happened to find a great deal.
Rule #1 from all of this: If you cannot physically see the quad at the drop of a hat, its a scam. Excuses are always the same - my son lived in another state so its in storage in that state.
